I AM CÉLINE FLEUR

Since being a little girl, there were always parts of her that felt different from her surroundings. She grew up in Dublin with a wonderful French maman and her Finglas father. They travelled often as a family of three, which shaped her understanding of life. From Sénégal, where drums and culture seeped into the sand, to India, spending Christmas in Amma’s ashram — these trips carved alternative experiences into her being from a very young age. She has been inspired by the eclectic traditions across the globe.

In recent years, the calling to birth work brought her to Mexico, where she immersed herself in the world of traditional parteras who shared their ways of being touched by birth and death. The deep honouring of both events, and the ceremonies passed down for centuries, re-membered the sacredness of these rites.

When the time was ripe, she entered an immersive nine-month off-grid birth school in southern Spain. This brought many rich teachings that added to her tapestry of life. Learning how to midwife the birth space in turn prepared her to midwife her father’s death space. There was no better preparation. Since June 2024, she has let grief take her, show her the core of life, and prioritised it as a teacher. The support she has called in for herself through this time has shown her how needed these ceremonies and community gatherings are. In togetherness we love, we grieve, we live. Everything is sweeter with a circle of supportive love around us.

On pilgrimage in Morocco — the desert, the nothingness, the vastness — one afternoon in a tent after mint tea, Céline-Fleur asked the women around her: “What is one thing you know you will one day do, that you currently are not, and that feels super edgy?” They each answered, and when they asked her, she said clearly, “Oh, definitely have a chat show.” She shared this dream vision from when she was eight years old — and from that moment, The Chats with Céline-Fleur was born. She holds deep gratitude for the tribe of sisters and brothers on that trip. It was the sacred nudge she needed to show up for her eight-year-old self, who had been holding this vision close to her heart.
